used to wear them everyday but after two pregnancies, they are just too uncomfortable. now i wear them maybe 3 times a week. i need a whole new wardrobe of panta and jeans since they are super long for heels.

My feet are deformed. I wear heels on rare occasion, and only when I know I won't be walking far (i.e. from the parking lot to the wedding reception). Don't want to encourage those bunions.

This is me as well! I commute via metro, and wear flats/sneakers for the commute, and for any meetings downtown where I'll have to walk any distance. I have, right now, 10 pairs of heels under my desk. I'm quite famous at work for my shoe collection here.

I almost never wear them; maybe a few times a year for weddings or some other event. The back pain and leg stiffness aren't worth it. Part of the issue for me is that I run, and I have no interest in making those runs any tougher than they need to be (i.e., shortening my Achilles from chronic high heel wearing).

I WOH full time, albeit in a fairly casual setting. I usually wear cute flats or low wedges.

I wear heels a couple of times per week but never for a full day. I am self-employed and work out of my home. I will wear heels out to a meeting, then change when I get home. I will wear heels out with DH but only if whatever we are doing doesn't involve more than a few blocks of walking.

I wore them almost exclusively in my 20's, but it's not so comfortable anymore. Even though I was guilty of doing the same, when I see women teeter-tottering to the metro in 3"+ heels, it just looks stupid and ridiculous.

I was able to wear heels throughout my 20s, and loved it. Now I have irreversible damage (hammertoes, bunions) and was unable to walk properly for almost a year due to sesamoiditis. Sucks.

Super high heels (5-7 in) are a new trend, and one incompatible with foot health.
Kitten heels are cute and more practical.

its true, however, i have some of the worst feet ever. Had foot surgery that just made them worse. I still wear heels. hopefully i can still walk when i'm 70!

Last time I checked high heels were not a trend, unless you think that trends run in 100 year cycles.

Those of you who love to snark, dcum is what it is, but please realize there are people with significant foot problems who can and will never wear heels (myself included). I wear atrociously ugly shoes in an attempt to not be in pain every day.

I agree. I will wear up to 3.5inch heels to work. that's it. I do wear them most days. Most of my heels are 2.5inches, and I could walk in them all day. I'll walk to and from the metro and out and about in them. I couldn't do that in 4inchers or higher. I agree, those 5 inch heels are ridiculous. I can't believe they even sell them in DC. Who is buying them here? I'm sure trendier cities can get them to sell, but I laugh thinking of any woman at the park purchasing a pair!! Even at clubs I think they're too much, unless the club has a pole.

That being said. I love lower heels. I wear flats too, but just an extra two inches makes my legs look leaner and longer, and I just feel prettier in them.

Absolutely inappropriate. 3" at work, max, otherwise you look like a whore.

I wear 2-2.5" heels at work, but I literally only wear them at work. I wear flats on the way in, I change to flats if I'm going out to lunch, I wear flats on the way home.

I only wear heels otherwise if I'm going out somewhere nice - if I'm out running errands or out to dinner with my husband or girlfriends, it is flats all the way.

5'2" here, wore 3" heels all through college and my 20s, then realized that I'd rather be comfortable

Does anyone else find heels that are over 4" (even some that are just 4") to be inappropriate for an office, particularly something stricter than business casual? I don't care if its simple a black leather pump, anything at 4-5.5 inches to me screams "club time"! Maybe if they are mostly covered by a pant leg, but if I am in anything even remotely that high I think I just look like I am trying to get some action (which has its time, believe me, just not at my office!)
