What do you mean by this?

We had two sons and one daughter graduate from Primary Day. They are now in middle school and high school. They are still friends with many of thier PDS classmates. The PDS community is very warm, welcoming and nurturing. My husband and I are great freinds with many wonderful families we met at PDS. Our children ended up going to schools we couldn't have gotten into without the foundation of PDS. PDS is a great investment for your whole family!

formally differentiate math in middle school, i.e., different classes for different levels. By 7th grade there are 3 levels of math, (not called this but this is more of less what the levels are: advanced algebra, algebra and advanced pre-algebra).

Differentiate, yes. Accelerate, generally no. Acceleration isn't the only way to challenge able readers, of course, but you already knew that.

I think it varies a lot year by year - depending on how many apply. Holton and Landon has traditionally been the schools of choice for PDS grads, but it recent years more have chosen Sidwell. In DD's class more of the girls went to Sidwell than Holton - but that was an abberation - I think.

How many kids from Primary Day are accepted to Sidwell 3rd grade each year?

PDS has 2 teachers assigned for pre-K who handle all the teaching other than Reading (site words), PE and Music which are taught by the speciality teachers. Students have one assigned teacher for K, 1st & 2nd but starting in K, kids also have speciality teachers in Art, Science, Math, and Phonovisuals (one thing that PDS is known for) - class size is half the class per lesson. Student/teacher ratio is 8 to 1. The Reading teacher actually works with the students on a one to one basis (starting in pre-K) and depending on how well the kids read, may meet with a student a couple of times a week. Unlike phonovisuals, the focus of the reading teacher is making sure the student know site word and and reading comprehension. There is a libriarian as well. Separate rooms for phonovisuals, arts, music, math - not sure about science but think so.

Do they have two teachers per class at Primary Day? Are there specialty teachers for math, reading, science, PE, music, arts? Are there special classrooms for science, music, arts?
