Pp here. I also think there's a difference between

1 using antibacterials and being OCD about germs, therefore killing all the good germs that keep you from getting sick and growing superbugs

And

2 at a minimum, washing your hands after you use the bathroom, and when you get home after being out in public.

Trust me, you and your family will be exposed to enough germs without engaging in these disgusting behaviours of no washing.

I don't know how sex would be possible as I wouldn't be able to get that out of my mind... And if you are wrong, why does he know to fake hand wash? I'd be disturbed that he's ok with his life partner knowing he's nasty, but still going through the motions for strangers. He needs to go through the actual motions for you.

Ugh. Divorce. Every day I come home and wash your husbands penis off my hands after my metro ride home. I work in public health so I see direct results of all the dirty poohs who won't wash their hands.

I actually think a lot of men are like OP's DH. They just don't admit it.

My husband is the same and brushes his teeth once daily. Refuses to brush any other time because he likes the taste of food in his mouth. Won't wash his hands and fake washes in bathroom. I squirt soap in his hands, so he'll wash. He is in and out of healthcare facilities all day and constantly sick in winter months. It's a battle and silly me for thinking an educated healthcare professional would know the importance of hand washing. He is also a very neat guy with expensive tastes in all things and meticulous with his clothes. It's a constant gross battle.

Sorry, but that's gross. While I have greatly toned down my germaphobe tendencies, I do make sure I wash my hands when I come home from work (I work in a hospital) and that DH does, too. Hands are always washed after using the bathroom. It's basic hygiene.

I agree that you're overreacting. He's actually doing your child a favor!

There was a study out about how kids who grow up in a household with pets/dogs have lower incidences of asthma/allergies. I agree with the PP who said our 'hyper-hygienic' environment is probably doing more harm than good.
