FWIW, there are actually two Bethesda practices at the Fernwood location and I'm at the one with Alter et al. So far (16 wks) my appts have been running on time and I've been happy with the office staff. Still working my way around the docs.

Previous poster here--I delivered with that practice at Shady Grove. It was OK.

Check out this malpractice lawsuit against the Gurdian-Spector CWC practice:

One of their pregnant patients kept telling them she had a lump in her breast, and they kept blowing her off for months. Due to the delay, at this point she is dying of metastatic breast cancer.

I know this is an old thread, but throwing in two cents anyway. I was unimpressed by the CWC Bethesda office with Kleinerman. She was really snarky after my ultrasound (downstairs) ran overtime and I was late to my appointment with her. The midwife there told me to make sure I don't sweat during exercise because it's like the baby's in a sauna. After doing Sibley's hospital tour, I bailed on that office altogether.

I'm at CWC next to Shady Grove now (Gurner et al) and happy to deliver at that hospital. Everyone I've seen has been pleasant enough, though I think doctors everywhere will always have that rushed atmosphere around them. No problems with the front desk staff, and the nurses have all been really nice.

I have also had great experiences at their Fairfax and Herndon offices. Dr. Kusick delivered my first baby and he was a rock star. I'm happy to be going there again for this pregnancy. I'm not wedded to the idea of natural birth though. I would just like to avoid another episiotomy.

Love them! Band delivered my son, and Sine delivered my daughter. My sister and 2 close friends also delivered with them. I've always found the front desk and nurses to be very nice. I've seen all of the docs. At first I was hesitant with Lazardo because I thought he was a bit cocky. But he's improved immensely.

I also went to CWC in SS and I have to say they have long wait times for your appointment. They're nice enough though but I didn't like that. I loved delivering at Holy Cross and my docs were pretty good (Dr. Ein ended up delivering my baby).

After a very negative experience at the Rockville office, I reluctantly tried the one on Chain Bridge Rd. in Fairfax on the advice of a friend and have been very pleasantly surprised. Though they are part of the CWC billing system, they maintain their independence in all other respects so they are able to maintain a reasonable practice size. They are very friendly, you don't feel rushed, you get very prompt callbacks and once, they even gave me a same-day appointment to resolve a concern I had. So far, I have seen only Dr. Stern and Dr. Rothchild, but I was impressed with both; they took their time, asked questions and made sure I understood everything.

I strongly encourage people to stay away from CWC. Their doctors may be good, but their office is disorganized and they often make mistakes scheduling, communicating with patients, and managing simple procedures.

For example, after administrative errors, I saw my doctor -- which was positive -- and then went for a blood draw. The phlebotomist (who was also CWC staff, as we later discovered) overshot the vein in my arm during the blood draw, and damaged the nerve in my right arm. I had to go through months of physical therapy and pain, etc., and when I contacted CWC with complaint, they first gave me a disorganized run around and then refused to compensate me for the money I had to pay to get my arm back to healthy. Not to mention the hours I had to take off from work.

I immediately quit my doctor, and I encourage all to stay away from Capital Women's Care where they do not care about patients.

I've had to wait a long time for appointments sometimes too. I've also had to wait a long time to get blood drawn to make sure my HCG was decreasing following more then one miscarriage. Not fun in a room full of very pregnant women. I think it's hit or miss though because when I saw Dr. Tyau I was in and out quickly. I love Dr. Sine and Dr. Resta though so I plan on being there and bring a book with me.

I just went to the Capital Women's Care on Lockwood dr. for my first appointment and had a horrible experience. I was excited to hear my babies heart beat for the first time and showed up 20 min early to fill out paper work. My apt wasnt until 2pm, but by the time 3:10 rolled around. My kids and myself were impatient and very upset. If they cannot see their patients at their scheduled time they should stop taking new patients. Before I left I asked if I could change my sons diaper. They led me to a bathroom with no changing table. When I told them I would not change him on the floor of the bathroom they led me into a private waiting room and told me to change him on the table. When I was about to lay him down I noticed they hadnt changed the paper from their last patient and there was jelly all over the tissue paper. After that I demanded a refund and stormed out before they ever called my name. I was so disappointed. This practice obviously has not interest in their patients needs and I will never support another practice like it again.

I've been going to capital women's care on shady grove road for 5-6 years only for my yearly visits. It wasn't until I recently got pregnant that I started going more frequently. They are almost impossible to get an appointment with, you have to schedule a month in advance. Due to my last experience I have completely changed my provider. After scheduling an appointment weeks ahead of time and specifically making sure I was scheduled for a sonogram and to see the doctor, I came in and was nowhere on the sonogram appointments. I was unable to get a sonogram done, they would do absolutely nothing to help me. There was no way they could squeeze me in for a ten minute sonogram when I saw that the sonographer was free several times. They're only solution was to have me wait an additional two hours to the two I had already spent in the office. They were rude and extremely unprofessional. I don't think I have ever seen a smile from any of the front desk staff or nurses. I was in the office for a total of two hours and 5 minutes was actually spent with the doctor. He asked me one question and listened to the babys heartbeat he was unfriendly and unconcerned. There was no importance in what he was doing. Also, their office is on shady grove road and they ONLY deliver at holy cross even though they are on the same street of a hospital. Im sure the majority of people who goto their office probably live in the Gaithersburg/Rockville area, to have to drive to Silver Spring while in labor is extremely absurd. I have switched providers and was able to get an appointment the next day with my new doctor as a new patient which would have been next to impossible to do with capital women's care. My providers now are extremely pleasant and they really seem to have a compassion for their profession, unlike capital Women's care. I will also now be delivering at Shady Grove which is 10 minutes from my home.

This must be the one 19:20 is talking about also. Though they only deliver at Sibley, which might be tough from MoCo.

I live in MoCo and delivered at Sibley. It wasn't a problem at all. And I even had to go to the hospital at 8:30am on a Wednesday -- right in the middle of rush hour. It wasn't tough at all.
