Everyone has their own tradition so I don't know why some people are being so rude calling us "non wrappers" lame and lazy. I remember coming downstairs and seeing my chair in the living room covered with stuff from Santa. The excitement was so overwhelming I didn't know where to look first. Plus we had hours of opening gifts from each other and family that came over for Christmas Day. If you wrap that's great for you…no need to be rude. Merry Christmas.

I find this thread really funny b.c my husband have had this ongoing discussion for a while now. He comes from a no-wrapped family and I come from a specially wrapped santa-only paper and cleverly disguised "from Santa" family. We both think the way the other's family did it is crazy.

Santa wrapped for me as a child and now wraps for DD, too. I would have never thought to do anything different! But then again I love to wrap. The more, the better, so I even wrap some of the regular shaped stocking stuffers (e.g., box of candy) from Santa. Even some of the less regular shaped items... We don't bother to put anything together before Christmas morning, either. We just spend the day lounging around, unboxing gifts and putting anything together that needs to be put together.

Santa always has his own wrapping paper, different from the one mommy and daddy uses. I had never thought to be consistent each year by using white paper and red bows, but to those who mentioned this, I love the idea! It would certainly save me from explaining why Hallmark carries Santa's paper, or why mommy and daddy uses last year's leftovers to wrap this year's gifts.

If the gift was too big/bulky/oddly-shaped, it would just get a bow, then would be put with the rest of the Santa gifts. Anyone have any thoughts on hanging full stockings back up that don't necessitate putting nails in the mantel? I've always wanted to do that (we had nails in the outside of a stair growing up that our stockings hung from, so pretty secure), but heavy stockings and stocking hangers don't mix.

But what's all this about special hidden wrapping paper and handwriting? Are you saying you buy wrapping paper for Santa to use and he has to find it and wrap the presents before leaving your house? That seems awfully inefficient. I would think Santa would have elves that help out with the wrapping back at the workshop for the kids that get wrapped presents. I hope you folks leave extra cookies if you're putting Santa to all that extra effort.

I think the PPs mean that obviously the presents from Santa are wrapped in a different patterned wrapping paper than all the rest of the gifts - so you'll need to hide that particular roll of paper well. Same with the tags - kind of common sense I thought? I like the idea about the white tissue and red bows.

Nope. Santa didn't wrap my gifts as kid and he doesn't wrap my kids gifts now. I had no idea Santa ever wrapped gifts until recently. Santa usually leaves one big present and it is assembled and laid out. While the kids play with that and the stocking stuffers, we get breakfast ready. After eating it is time to unwrap the rest of the presents.

Santa definitely didnt wrap in our house. Gifts are displayed and then you know it is your gift (or pile) because santa fills your stocking and puts it next to the appropriate pile. Family gifts are under the tree and get passed out and opened one at a time after Santa gifts are done. DH doesn't agree about the wrapping part, but after I asked him how the heck we were going to wrap DS's kitchen he saw the light.

not wrapping presents IS REALLY REALLY LAME. Kids love unwrapping presents, that is a big part of the joy of giving the gift.

Then you wrap the gifts from Santa is paper that you don't use for gifts from you.

In my family the Santa gifts were always wrapped in white tissue paper and tied with red bows. You will be able to find those every year and so Santa can always use the same paper year after year.

That is SO smart! Love it.

Of course, large things like kitchens, bikes, etc are exempted from that.

ONLY on DCUM would a tradition different than yours equal laziness.

A tradition of laziness..
