A lot of his polo shirts are from events though with something embroidered on the side.

How's the quality of their dress shirts? Do they hold up well after several months of laundering?

My DH also really likes the Charles Tyrwhitt shirts and they hold up very nicely. They have some brighter colors/checks/patterns, that make for a more interesting shirt than a lot of the Brooks Brothers options. He prefers them b/c they are a bit more fitted through the sides, so they're less "blousy" than some American shirts. Another source for more weekend casual button-downs is Boden for men. (For the record, my DH buys his own shirts; I contribute if and when I can remember to take them to the cleaners as a favor, otherwise, he launders and irons them too. He is still trying to get me to understand the difference between a dress shirt and a sport shirt, the latter of which I thought he was making up until I saw it in a catalog this week.)

Not the PP, but I hate doing yardwork. I also hate paying bills. I'm aware of our finances, but he's the one that actually sits down with the computer and checkbook and handles actual payments that aren't already set up online. We split cooking responsibilities, since we do lots of grilling he handles that while I handle stove-top cooking.

In response to OP, we both buy his dress shirts at Jos A Bank. For casual, I tend to buy his stuff at Eddie Bauer or LL Bean. He likes henleys, 1/4 zip pullover sweaters or sweatshirts and jeans. Kind of rugged casual. He has great business clothes taste, but struggles with that business casual look, so I tend to seek out collared shirts everywhere from Banana Republic to Gap that will work with chinos, jeans, or trousers with a sport coat.

DH doesn't like to shop, so he doesn't do it. He would just wear old clothes if I didn't shop for him. Also, I like my style better than his, and he doesn't seem to mind, since I took shopping off his plate. I almost exclusively shop online, so it's not like I'm at the mall running around to make sure he's well dressed.

A shirt is not a good gift, especially if he normally buys them himself. Buy him something fun instead.

My husband buys a lot of his casual (and business casual) clothes at Banana Republic.

Before we met, he shopped more at Brooks Brothers and Nordstroms, but I thought their clothes made him look older than his age (mid-30s). Banana Republic seems to be a better fit.
