My mom was born in 1960, last time I checked that wasn't the Great Depression, and you are assuming all of our grandparents grew up in American. Not the case.

Here's some perspective, Winona Ryder was caught shoplifting. It was a high for her. Sometimes people don't steal because they are in need, sometimes they do it because they want something they cannot afford so they take it, or they have what they "need", but not what they "want". Who steals for their children at Filene's? Not every mother w/ child caught stealing is in need of nourishment. Case in point, Casey Anthony wrote bad checks, which is a form of stealing, she was not in need, she was "wanting" things she could not afford.

This just makes me sad. I'm sad for the boy, sad that the mother did this, no matter what the reason. How do you get to a place in your life where this is what becomes of you? It's just...sad.
