I love getting Christmas cards. I don't care whether you spent an hour composing a personal note to me, printed off a generic newsletter or simply stuffed a photo card that you printed at Target into an envelope. I like hearing from friends and family and I enjoy seeing everyone's kids. If you can't find a tiny bit of happiness in knowing that someone thought enough of you at the holidays to send you a card, and instead waste your time on negativity & stupid judgement, then something is wrong with you.

I like ones with photos so I can see how everyone's kids are growing. Couldn't care less if the writing is by hand or not. I enjoy the letters and am happy for families whose kids are doing well. What a bunch of overcompetitive harpies on DCUM!

Photo cards without a handwritten note bug me. I write a note on all of our cards, so I know exactly how much effort it takes...not much, especially for the folks who use computer labels for the address.

I love getting Christmas cards. The only thing that makes me cringe is when they're signed by "The Smith's."

I will admit to doing the photo cards the last few years. Just too busy. Though I tend to do the folded ones and write a note inside.

Even though I like the family "newsletters" it is only for entertainment purposes. Too much vanity, too many pictures, too syrupy sweet.

The braggy newsletter, with the summer vaca pics. And the mini resume.

If the newsletter is more than one page with reasonable (not tiny) font, we do not bother reading it. I can see why people do them (I think) - but I can't get past how self serving it is.

I just sent all of our cards out and they are the folded photo cards. Nope, I did not write in them. After handwriting all of the addresses and trying to keep them away from sticky fingers, juice box spillage and crayons - I'm beat. I don't care if they get tossed but I did put care into designing them, trimming and including school pics and selecting the recipients. I like receiving Christmas cards and it doesn't bother me what they look like or if someone has written a note. I like the fact that someone thought of me and my family at this time of year, even if briefly. It took me a long time to gather the addresses of the people that I chose to send cards. I think a one liner would be more insincere than nothing at all. Not everyone has the time to write an in depth note on each card.

The worst Christmas card so far this year is the one that arrived right BEFORE Thanksgiving. Thanks guys, now we already feel behind!

Beach pictures bug me. I don't want to see sun- burned faces contrasted against wreaths and santas. It just looks silly.

We wait with great anticipation every year for the card from an old friend whose "motivational speaker" husband "no longer allows them to eat refined sugar" and "greatly encouraged her to be a strong woman and go natural for her childs birth"

Why do you bother? E cards ARE tacky. Nobody wants one. It is not a substitute for a real card.

It is funny that you admit it is tacky and still you don't care. It is like saying "I send Chia Pets and fruitcakes to all my relatives. I don't care if they are tacky or taste awful. If I sent you a "real" gift you might not like it anyway so at least I am not wasting my time."

PP, are you the "I don't need to brush my teeth, I eat crackers!" lady? From the pets thread. Because I'm still laughing from that 2 weeks ago. I know, pretty sad.
