I agree about wearing hose, but like the OP I get runs very easily. I usually have three pair in my briefcase for an interview -- once I got all the way to the receptionist area and snagged my hose on a chair there. Luckily I always arrive a few mins early to have time to duck in the restroom and make a last appearance check, so I was able to change them before the interview.

Another lawyer here. I do wear bare legs to court in the dog days of summer, but only for something like a docket call or minor motion. For a jury trial, I definitely wear hose. Never tights to court, as they are a more casual look, more appropriate for days in the office. When it's freezing out and I have to go to court, I wear pants.

When in doubt, I dress up, and in professional settings that means hose. It may not the most stylish, but I'm not trying to look hip. I'm trying to look competent, serious, and professional. I would think you'd be hoping for the same when you go for an interview. Once you have the job, then you can worry about style.

I agree with PPs... hose are like foundation makeup for your legs. If you have perfect skin, I guess you could go to an interview with no makeup. I can't.

I work in a law firm and I see plenty of sheer hose on women of all ages. I especially see it on interview candidates.
Also, I don't get the hose hate. It covers up minor skin imperfections, makes dress shoes more comfortable, acts like a slip so your skirt isn't riding up or bunching, and provides some tummy smoothing if desired.
I'd rather be bare-legged, but I'd also rather be wearing comfy sandals and jeans. If I've got to dress up, the hose is not the worst of the annoyances to me.

It all depends on what your legs look like. As you age, your skin becomes thinner and every imperfection shows up (spider veins, etc.). Ultra-sheer hose smooths out your skin tone. The drawback is its cost. Also, for some of us our natural skin color is almost blue-white. Pantyhose solves a lot of problems!

For the record, Michelle Obama has said that she does NOT wear hose.

Wow, I find it hilarious that my question generated 4 pages of answers! FWIW, the suit looks good with grey tights, but definitely too wintery for today's weather.

So I ended up wearing stupid sheer hose (I found a good pair stashed in the back of a drawer). But since I spent the entire interview sitting down at a conference table my legs were on view for a total of 3 minutes walking between the elevator and the office, and I highly doubt it would have mattered if I had gone bare-legged.

Just because Kate Middleton was wearing hose recently doesn't mean they've made a comeback. They are decidedly out, esp. in the orange drugstore version a la Mama's Family cast members.

haha..this is a MODEL in a catolog with photo-shopping. Quite different than a regular woman going on an interview.

2. all the women I interview are either in hose or in pants. even the younguns.
