Please stop. It bothers me too but not enough to keep bringing it up on this forum. Either contact the charter school board or YY administration or SHUT UP!

Is it that you have no idea how insulting you are to the many high-achieving AA students, or do you just not care? As long as you keep putting the meme out there that black = student who needs to be tracked, you are the problem. Presumably YY makes decisions on a case by case basis, but you just throw your assumptions at everyone (AA) equally.

Black children are born geniuses. So why privileged Whites decide to separate them base on racialized stereotypes is beyond me. If you want to believe that YY makes decisions on the case by case basis and that all of the children in the low track happen to be Black--then YOU ARE THE PART OF THE PROBLEM not me. It boggles me how Blacks support this practice. Continue to blame the victim as opposed to looking at the racist structures. I pray that your child comes out ok!

It is still very uncertain when the Walter Reed site will be ready for renovation nor how long that will take

I'm the pp who crowed about my 9 m.o. being able to attend YY in 2014, and I agree with you. I'd prefer that energy be focused on the future education of current students, rather than enhancing things for students who don't attend yet. And as a parent of a PK4 student, I also feel that the school's current facilities aren't well set up for PS3. At that age, I maintain that you really need a bathroom in every classroom, which the school doesn't currently have. (And I can think of a few accidents that my son & his classmates have had that wouldn't have happened if a bathroom had been more readily available.) The addition was built with the idea of adding a fourth story on top--perhaps that could be configured for PS3?

Of course, if PS3 does in fact come through in time for my younger child, we'll enroll!

You have no ideal what you are talking about.

Wow, I hope you know how uninformed you sound. There are white children in the non Chinese immersion class, and the majority of kids in the full Chinese immersion class are black children.

Thank you.

The whack-job PP of this thread and so many others is probably sc some disenfranchised, disgruntled stay at home mom who was too awkward or lazy to do anything to get involved. She probably was a wild complainer who had been at the school, complained wildly about lunches or traffic or something, offered no solutions or help, and was a big, fat pain in the ass for all involved. There is so much going on at the school and so much positive parent energy all the time that you have to duck, cover and actively work to NOT find something to support (or at the very least, consider not bitching about).

The school choice thing is just as tired as people who don't absorb the message, but it does ring true. Why be somewhere you hate? And if you don't really hate it why are you complaining about it? If I'm at the store to buy fruit and the pears are icky and I might choose peaches. I don't keep the pears and run around the rest of the store screaming about the pears. That is insane, and so is complaining about a school community to which pp obviously does not belong.
