I was on River Road way out towards Falls Rd yesterday and drove by a mansion that looked like it should be in Miami. Whoever built this strange pink stoned with white roof house right on river needs to move it Miami. It looks terrible there I mean complete eye sore. Its got to be new money bc no one in their right mind would have built that with some taste. Oh and there are GIANT EAGLES on the gate to the property.
Also saw some massive homes being built out there. Huge land out there but way too far for me. If I had money I would never live out that far!
OMG YES!!!! It looked like something that escaped from the set of Dynasty. The only nice thing I can say about that house is, at least it isn't crammed on a tiny lot in the middle of an otherwise colonial-skewed neighborhood.
LOL! NP here who drives by the eagle house on the way to work. In order to truly appreciate this house, you must see it at night. They have outdoor optical lights on the house and in the fountain..blue, purple and pink. It is very lit up all year long.
Wait it gets better! LOL...I did not think there could be more to this house!

In fact Foxhall was considered new money by most when it was first built and you can tell that the character of the homes on Dexter and W don't have a city feel. But of course people here want to hate on people who can afford a $3m oasis in the middle of the city. Most of the people who live there aren't new money they just didn't want to move out to the burbs to enjoy the comforts of large spacious living.
Seriously? I live in an established neighborhood in the District and would not trade up from our 2 mil house for a Phillips "oasis." You cannot walk anywhere from there in less than 15 minutes. Why live in the city in a huge house on a small lot if there are no other conveniences?

The most ridiculous stone-veneered three-car-garaged nothing-but-lawn McMansions imaginable, right where you'd expect to see stately century-old homes with beautiful mature landscaping. It's the weirdest moment of cognitive dissonance. "Wait... did I take a wrong turn and end up in Reston??"
