This thread is about AAP in Fairfax County. I have no idea what programs are offered in Loudoun & not sure if others on this thread do either, but we are talking about 1st graders (not 3rd graders) taking the NNAT.

Sounds like your child is a good student, which is something to be proud of, but probably not a kid for advanced programs. Don't worry about it, and be grateful that your child is doing a great job at learning what he should be learning.

We *still* don't have our scores

...but I can tell you that the first graders will not take the NNAT again next year.

FCPS's plan for each year going forward is...
NNAT in 1st grade
CogAT in 2nd grade

For those in 1st this year, their NNAT score (along with their 2nd grade CogAT score) will be used next year to determine whether or not they are in the AAP "2nd grade pool."

The cutoff could be 130 like it is this year, or it could be 132 like it was a couple years ago. We'll just have to wait and see when they release the cutoff next year.

(the only reason the 2nd graders took the NNAT this year is because it is the transition year and they had not taken it last year in 1st grade)

My son scored 126 & ranks in the 95%. He's an Aspergers kid, so I'm not sure how or if this is factored in. Does anyone have experience with this situation? He's bored in class, but due to difficulty with communication, I don't know if he would benefit is we try to get him in.

Let me make sure I understand, for a 1st grader to be considered they need a score of 130? Do they test again in 2nd grade? Our letter didn't explain anything and the website is very confusing. Am I correct in my understanding?

Still no NNAT test results here....Agh. I wish my school was more together.

Looking at the NNAT score report, 130 is the lower end of "Very Superior". So not sure if it is possible that FCPS would go below 130 for the cutoff.
