Now that I have plowed through all 13 books of The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, (yes, I am a geek) and I'm reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.

I just finished Death and the Penguin by Sergey Kurkov which I really enjoyed a lot. I ordered the sequel Penguin Lost, but until that shows up I'm reading The Thought Gang by Tibor Fischer. Very weird so far. Reminds me a bit of Henry Miller for some reason.

Disliked Cutting for Stone. Too superfluous/wordy/narrative...

I happened to be in Charlottesville one year on the 4th of July and heard her speak at a naturalization ceremony held on the beautiful grounds of Jefferson's estate, Monticello. She was just terrific. I didn't personally know anyone being naturalized but thought it'd be a great way to celebrate the 4th, and it was.

This may be going off on a tangent, but do you mean that you do not personally know anyone who is a naturalized US citizen?

Oy.

I just finished over the weekend - "These Hidden Things" by Heather Gudenkauf. It was a good, quick read that gives you a lot to think about in regards to parenting, and being a mother. I couldn't put it down and it's not very long.

Now I'm reading "Firefly Lane".

Just read "Motherhood and Feminism" - sounds dry but great nonfiction.

Now reading a book recommended to me on DCUM - about marketing to girls - Packaging Girlhood - Rescuing our Daughters from Marketing Schemes - I think it's called. Also really good.

Apparently I'm on a non-fiction pro-female kick!
