At ours we have the opposite situation. We get on a list if we want the club to buy back our membership and it can take about 8-10 years to do so. Nobody stays on the list for that long.

Fairfax is where you want to be! Lots of pools available. Not Burke since most of Burke is HOA

We're in Bowie, and our pool has lots of DC tags in the parking lot. I'm assuming because the pools in Cheverly, etc have long waitlists. Heck, Charles Allen is at our pool regularly. Don't know if he's a member or a friend of one, but apparently DC pools aren't good enough for DC City Council.

I'm in NWDC but put my name down at two pools in MoCo because the pool we were supposed to be getting in our neighborhood was canceled. If the pace continues it will be 8 years until the pool we actually want has space, but the backup might be the year after next? Sigh.

What’s wrong with Upshur?

At the time I put myself on lists, Upshur was scheduled to be shut down all this summer. (Now it's open this summer, but scheduled to be shut down all summer 2027.)

My husband will not impregnate a DD into me until we get off the waitlist.

Wow mine was 6 years and I thought that was long. Signed up as soon as I got pregnant and we had moved to a neighborhood with better schools by the time the offer came in

I don’t live in McLean, but my assumption is that people in McLean think life is pretty good there as well. They probably even think life is better in McLean than Burke.

We live in Burke, but used to live in North Arlington. As someone said above, pros and cons to both.

We live in Fairfax Station now, but we used to live next to Langley HS and I miss the access to DC. There are pros and cons for all living decisions.

When I joined the waitlist at PGP in spring 2020, I joked that I was getting it for my future grandkids (my kids were in elementary at the time). Still years away at the present pace.

In lieu of PGP, we’ve bounced around among membership pools and DPR.

We have friends that got into Vienna Woods as members last year after an 11 year wait. There were a number of years that they were renters before that. No significant differences as a renter, and full member.
