Because it ends up stuck to the bottom!!! Toss it into your own can, inside the poop bag sure, but not otherwise tied up in a garbage bag, on a nice summer day, and see how you feel about it when it's plastered to the bottom of the can after trash pickup

+1, the worst dog owners in my neighborhood are the ones with young kids who obviously underestimated how hard it would be to take care of and socialize a dog while working full time and raising kids. They remember having dogs when they were kids but forgot the part about how their parents (usually a SAHM mom) took care of the dog all the time and they had a big yard for the dog to run in and they only went on a couple vacations a year and one was usually a car trip they could take the dog on.

This is spot on. These are the worst in my neighborhood too. I actually think the singles and DINKWADs are pretty conscientious owners- they have time for training and walking, their dog is a hobby. In families with young kids the dog comes dead last in priorities which means the dog is often problematic and the parents are frustrated and busy and frenzied and...it's just a bad scene.

Some of the singles and DINKs with dogs around us can be bad too, especially during the puppy phase (which can last for years with some dogs, especially if they aren't being trained properly), but most seem to figure it out eventually and the dogs calm down. Their dogs, at least, seem to be well cared for and be getting the exercise and attention they need.

But I'll also note the families with the worst behaved dogs also have poorly behaved kids. Some people just want all the benefits of parenting and pets without any of the work. They pride themselves on being laid back and their kids on being "independent." In reality their house is chaos, their kids are out of control, and their dog is stressed out most of the time. They can't see it.

The most neglected dogs I know belong to a couple with young kids. Most of the dogs' days are spent locked inside of kennels/cages. The yard isn't fenced so the dogs are only allowed outside on the rickety deck to crap and pee, which isn't picked up for days at a time. They have never been on walks. But boy - when you see the couple's Insta photos and holiday cards, those cute dogs are featured like they are beloved parts of the family. Sickening.

Same. And I reuse every bag I get for poop. The bag shipped clothing comes in, bulky FedEx shipping bags, produce bags. It’s not that hard.
