Actually, Zara (which I think 3 links on the list were) is a very popular children’s brand in Europe as well as America

Zara is appropriate for Europe. Not this other crap.

Please shut up. Nobody cares. The Europeans I was kayaking with at Lake Powell who wore tight bedazzled jeans and Hugo Boss polos to do this activity in late July also looked very European.

I’ll keep writing it. Brandy Melville top executives have been accused of sexual assault and bringing 18 years old employees to their NYC apartment where the girls wake up in the morning without remembering anything.

A group chat of about 30 top company executives was leaked that revealed pages of Nazi propaganda. The word “Hitler” was found in more than 150 screenshots, including a t-shirt that read “Hitler,” a picture of a literally starving woman wearing a sash that said, “Miss Auschwitz 1943” and an image of Hitler with the words “Premio Nobel per la brace” — which translates to “Nobel Prize for barbecue.”

Just an example, there’s much more. I don’t see the appeal of those shapeless shirts someone linked from Brandy Melville but there are better quality tops in any teen store.

Anytime someone recommends Melville I would tell them to research the men in control of this company.

How tall is she? When my very petite daughter was that age and too skinny for short 000 pants, we had better luck at Abercrombie kids, because a lot of the clothes looked stylish but not revealing, and the pants and jeans come with an adjustable waist and slim sizes. (Eg instead of size 15/16 she would buy 13/14 long). Sometimes Zara kids works too. Now that DD is older she can finally wear the xxs and 000 sizes at hollister and American eagle.

Mine wears bras with them. I did buy her this year a bandeau style bra to wear with some of the tank tops and tube tops. But in the summer, she'll wear them with her bikini top.

Any recommendations for a tall 13 year old? My kid is 5'8 and wants to wear the itty bitty shorts and tops that her much shorter friends wear. We try Pac Sun, Hollister etc and the shorts are so so short on her.

Hi! I don’t know if you are still looking but I was there with DD yesterday and here is what she bought. My 15 yo daughter wanted the yellow and grey but there are so many options. https://www.hollisterco.com/shop/us/p/hollister-callie-reversible-cami-62238319?faceout=model&seq=01&pagefm=navigation-grid&prodvm=navigation-grid

Do they wear bras with it? None of the models do

Mine does too.

Anonymous wrote:My 11.5 year old and I hit so many stores after she had a growth sport - she’s starting to show puberty signs, has put on a bit of weight, and is now 5 feet after years of being very very small next to her classmates (she’s a rising 7th grader).

She can’t fit Zara kids anymore which I think bothered her, but found some good pjs at Gap Kids. (Her aunts sent her a package from Zara kids this past spring, and every item was too small, and for the first time in her life that I know of, she seemed upset at her body). We went into American Eagle for the first time for each of us, and got help getting non-cheeky shorts, and I got her a Henley tee that is very fitted (xs) - more on that later. One pair of the Offside shorts were so tight on her - I realized we didn’t understand the sizing. Anyway.

Our area has Edikted, Pac Sun, Brandy Melville and Princess Polly, and we were each completely overwhelmed. The styles looked both tiny but mature, and Brandy Melville was stuffed with people. We could have bought one tee, but the line was a city block long, and the dressing rooms were closed. We didn’t find anything in these stores, and while none of it is me, I was open to it. So some tweens may not be ready for these highly targeted stores.

The American Eagle Henley that she seemed so comfortable in at the store is a flop because wearing it in real life, the top buttons pop and a fragment of her camisole bralette is shown, and she reflexively pulls on it. I talked to her about how I really want to help her get what she likes within reason (budget), but that my whole goal is to never have her feel extremely self-conscious in the clothes she’s in, to have the thought about her shirt opening or her butt out run at the same time she’s trying to have fun. I think she understood that. Anyway — we have lived on hand me downs and little kid clothes for her whole life, so this was wild.

Those Henleys are meant to be worn with something layered underneath. Get her a tank or lace cami to wear with it so she doesn't have to worry about what's going on with the buttons.

There’s a lot more there than just that. So it’s fine to shop there with all the other racist and misogynist crap he’s done? It only crosses the line at antisemitism!??

I understand there’s a lot just as horrible going on at the company but I didn’t want to write a long thing. People can research it. They should.

They should but they won’t care. People’s ethics have gone out the window which is how we ended up with an Epstein.

I read that article. They claimed shoplifting and gum? in the dressing rooms. It turns out girls were holding the curtains shut using gum because the gaps were wide and you could see them changing. Shocker!

Also they don’t accept returns if bought in store. Sketchy is their M.O.

This is pretty much where we've landed with my 13 year old, too. Uniqlo is stylish but not revealing. Aerie has super comfortable leggings and shorts.
