Not gonna lie - some of these 5th graders speaking seem sharper than my current colleagues.

That is so inequitable, a girls only sport that is only available at a few high SES schools. Needs to go. Gymnastics is niche and these girls can continue to pursue the sport in their expensive clubs as they have done.

Do we need a new math curriculum? Resounding "NOs" from the audience.

Are the deep frustrated sighs coming from Grace? So inappropriate.

What is is”be sent out for an extended public comment period”? How long? Does that mean they’re not trying to officially rescind it this summer in time for this fall?

I think it would still go out this summer.

Julie Yang’s pushback on this point was that summer was a horrible time to solicit public feedback since teachers and students are on break during the summer.

Yeah, makes sense. I wish Julie could stay in BOE. She is really the only one there now that can push some rational modifications/pushbacks.

If she had wanted to do that, she should have done so whole she could have, including last year as president. Instead, she facilitated the ramrod approach, largely followed by Grace, accepting continuation of late/no board meeting materials posting, with limited rounds of & time for questions and an utter lack of circumspection/follow-up related to anything other than the items most dear to her.

If it wasn't her intent from the beginning of her BOE candidacy to make that a springboard to endorsements for County Council, her use of the position in the interim to show that she would toe the party line has made it abundantly clear that that certainly became her intent.

Don't be fooled by Julie. She is just pretending to pushback because she's running for County Council and knows it makes her look good with people who are critical of MCPS.

When she was BOE president last year, she let MCPS run all over her and the board.

She hired Taylor and has been bought into whatever he has done, until she had to consider the calculus of what voters might want, because of her run for county council. Julie is all about Julie, in the end.
