Which is ripe with fraud. Plus Big 4 has super huge amount of vacation I worked there I had six weeks vacation, plus 10 holidays. Then they added paternity leave which was crazy.

When I left Big 5 I has the max amount of vacation you could accrue. Six weeks was already too much time off to meet charability goals and client needs. Add in Paternity leave I would have lost all my clients in my name. And I had a sales goal.

+1 Feel free to cite the research that shows that parents are using parental leave fraudulently. There's lots of research that shows that paid parental leave provides significant health, economic, and developmental benefits, including reduced infant mortality, increased breastfeeding duration, improved maternal mental health, and higher labor force participation over the long run for women.

I don’t even understand what fraudulent parental leave is. You fake a baby?

I have heard of cases in which peoples dogs have had litters and they took the time off to care for and bond with the puppies. Paid pupternity leave.

I also heard that school children identify as cats and schools put litter boxes in the bathrooms for them!!!

(This is what you sound like, pp)

Americans should not be procreating in the current environment. Once there is population decline everyone will straighten up.

Or. how about living in multi-gen families? Oh, wait...y'all cannot stand the "not in the trenches moms who are not doing active mothering".

The U.S. is the only industrialized nation not to have paid family leave as a federal benefit.

No, you have the baby, but then give it up for adoption after the leave is over.

I adopted an infant for the parental leave, but then returned it when the leave was over. The baby wasn't a good fit for our family anyway, so I was glad to get rid of it. I got a dog instead.

You guys crack me up

+1 Did you return the baby at Whole Foods, the Staples dropoff point or UPS?

One of those lazy Susan thingies at the firehouse, where anyone can deposit a baby, no questions asked.

They'll even take toddlers! Ask me how i know.

Well my last job the VP with a ton of RSUs did it then made up some mumbo jumbo he needed max leave and did FMLA 12 weeks combined with two weeks vacation, He had actually started another full time job the very week he left. He had a bunch of unvested RSUs he wanted vested and hang on for annual bonus. He came back and gave two weeks notice. since we were remote not that it matter.

Next guy took it when he got his GF pregnant. His wife was not happy, neither was his GF as he spent at time we gave two weeks, his time in Vegas with a third girl.

A guy who worked for me took a BabyMoon with his bros, came back and said hey HR said no requirement I stay with kids.

You know what I think is better take it away from men and give women more paid time off.

So basically you have no data to cite, but just anecdotes from an anonymous remote workplace that you don't name that you think should drive policies for millions of Americans. Hope you're not employed in any field that involves analysis of information.

here is a fact. No Man has ever given birth to a baby. there is still unpaid FMLA and vacations days for me. I have three kids, as a man, guess what I saved up some vacation days and used that. One company did give two weeks paternity leave I worked at but they had an option to take the two weeks in cash instead, which I did. I had a lot of bills right after first born and came in more handy than me sitting around house all day

Should women who have new babies they don’t birth be denied leave? Should they just use their vacation days too? Who should take care of the infant then?

OK grandpa. But beyond your own narrowminded opinion, parental leave is often considered superior to solely maternity leave because it promotes gender equality (which keeps women in the workforce), encourages shared caregiving responsibilities, and supports family bonding for all parents, regardless of gender.

Yet the actually women giving birth often gets zero maternity leave. 1/3 of Moms are stay at home Moms. SAHMs should get paid before Dads do from his company.

You're arguing that sahms are somehow entitled to corporate benefits before the workers themselves?

Someone seems to be ignorant of the fact that parental leave exists to compensate parents for the salary they would normally have at the workplace to take care of their baby for the critical first months of life. And that paying SAHMs to stay at home and have babies may lead to some perverse incentives.

Let alone how it can be "ripe."

Rife, maybe. But "ripe?"

It's fraud, not an avocado.

+Gotta love the allegations of unsubstantiated fraud by people who can barely write in English.

Corporations don't care. They follow the current administration and will do what they think is best to help themselves. If Project 2025 called for stoning women, they'd be all in.

This isn’t about politics. It’s about the labor market. The market for job seekers is bad, so employers don’t have to compete with these types of benefits to get employees. It’s why leave needs to be government-mandated.

THIS. This is the most important takeaway here. Big companies know there’s a recession coming so they won’t need great benefits to attract employees anymore.
