Can’t speak for everyone but the reality is you stay because your kid wants to play at a national level and he can’t make SYC, Alexandria, Arlington or VDA (and also, those clubs are too far of a hike, even if you could make those teams, to ride the bench). This board is super negative but generally accurate. The facts are the facts where this club is concerned and it’s well documented here.

Don’t forget NVA. Union is the sixth best option for boys in the area. And by that point you get to players who maybe shouldn’t be playing on a national level. We don’t know all of the players that made U13 next year, but when thinking about the ones we do know, they’re going to have a hard time against teams like Richmond and Arlington.

Most of the people on here are new ECNL parents. The most anxious bunch. As a result FVU hate is misguided as their two best teams are the 2013 and 2012. When you are good you get hated on, plain and simple. The lack of VDA threads tells you excatly who is most active on here doing all the trolling.

If they poached girls from their current teams to play in a tournament this weekend. Eww.

they have a team playing made up of girls from the team next year and a bunch of guest players not even going to be on the team next year. the team has barely enough players to play in the tournament for u13. MV is desperate.

sorry u12 not u13

Most negative comments and pot stirring about FVU are from VDA boosters. They are fixated on FVU girls of all ages for whatever reason. Throwing crap at the wall to see which new parents they can peel off. Look at them discussing whether 11 /12 year old preteen girls have notified their current teams that they aren't available this weekend. These aren't your teams and not your kids. Why do you care? Weirdos!

Our DD is on a team that is doing well. Although any situation could be better, we are happy with what the club is providing us so far.

Arlington doesn’t provide anything more than our current environment and has some cons of their own.

VDA’s younger teams haven’t been good and driving out to their fields doesn’t make sense until u16 at the earliest. Most of the exposure comes from being on good teams. If our team remains strong, we don’t see the need to move clubs.

Any team in pre-ECNL at u12 is off this weekend bc they put a break in the schedule so…

14 of 19 u12 pre-ecnl teams have games this weekend including many of the FVU feeder clubs. Pretty sure the pre-ga clubs others have mentioned also have games this weekend. Hopefully no one has to forfeit because players aren’t able to attend.

Can’t everyone see who is attending games in the apps lol, get a grip.

When BRYC and Vienna merged to create BRAVE, there were several unhappy BRYC boys coaches and older players who left to form NVU. The fracture weakened the boys side. Then BRAVE was forced to partner with McLean to form FFx Union. The next year, McLean pulled out of FFx Union. And this year, all clubs are dealing with the age group changes.

That is a lot of change over the course of about 5 years. As noted, the two youngest age groups are strong right now (at least on the girls side). If FFx Union can keep those groups strong, and have some stability, they have a chance to build a stronger program.

Aren’t a lot of the 2013s leaving?

I just checked the standings and all of the teams on the boys side have terrible records. One team was .500, the rest were all in last or second last place and there was even a team that has a -80 goal differential.

It’s not much better on the girls side once you cut out the 2012 and 2013 teams.

Would be a great boost to the competitiveness in the area if this club could get its act together. I don’t think it’s a case of too many teams, rather a lack of effort by this club to attract the 4-5 quality players they need from neighboring teams. Look at Villarreal, FPYC and grab a couple kids. I doubt anyone drives from more than 8-10 miles to play for FVU. What they have isn’t cutting it.
they cant evaluate talent plain and simple.

they are going to lose ECNL. Only matter of time

No, I don’t think so. It’s still money for ECNL at the end of the day and they’ve lasted this long with no accountability. They have a monopoly in Fairfax and will continue to exist until another ECNL club pops up.
