Ampify is based on Illustrative Mathematics. That's worked well in MS for my kid.

So the cost is $9 million (new curriculum) vs. $6.5 million (currently) per year? If TT can consider removing his stupid regional program, it's going to save $10-20 million per year easily.

Those look like MCCPTA leaders who were probably on the curriculum review advisory group. My understanding is that they were under an NDA and that MCPS had been refusing to tell them what curriculum was selected for the last few weeks-- they put out some action alerts saying "we can't tell you what was under consideration because of the NDA, but there is only one good option and we don't know if they'll pick it, and they aren't going to announce it until the last minute."

Presumably sometime in the last few days, MCPS told the folks on the committee what curriculum was selected and that they were released from the NDA, and they included that in their testimony.

Wait…This is a 5th grade concept. If your child who is in compacted math did it earlier, it is because they had already moved in to 5th grade curriculum. And this is why parents shouldn’t have a say in curriculum…

Right, my kid is in the on-grade-level 5th grade math and this looks like something they did early in the year. So it would have been covered in 4th grade compacted math.

The stakeholders didn't make the choice, the district did. Per the email Evelyn Chung sent out, the committee made a recommendation but they still don't even know what was selected.

NP. The BOE is an elected body that deliberates in public with the chance for the public (not just parents, although they tend to be the most interested) to both comment at meetings and to voice their opinions outside of that by contacting their representatives. That's how representative democracy works. It's like asking why Congress should give people a chance to question the laws they pass.
