His crimes were felonies and he was escalating. His family deserves sympathy and mental health support, but he needs jail time.

What makes you think everyone found out the perpetrator? It hasn’t been reported in the press and I have no idea who it is. Do you know if they found any guns at his house? That would affect my view of the situation but I continue to think this kid needs a lot of mental health support. Not adult jail.
