Michigan might not take that many kids this year because part of their class was filled with ED for the first time ever. No one knows what percent-20%? It may be enough that the waitlist numbers drop.

Yes, it makes sense that, especially for private schools, the introduction of ED pulled that “if we admit you, will you attend?” question up to earlier in the year.

Also, it may not be rational, but winning the NCAAmbb tournament in April isn’t going to hurt yield.

I could not agree more. The size of these two schools alone is just so different. They are going to get a far more personal experience at Northwestern over Michigan (which is just so large and from what I have heard from other parents, it is sink or swim with very little guidance or counseling).
