You make a good point about the data, so let’s look at New York City.
The median (not mean) starting salary with a bachelor’s degree in NYC is less than $65K, and to start at more than $100K, one would likely have to be in finance or tech.
Granted, FAANG companies might hire a limited number of new grads at close to $200K, but those positions are outliers.
I checked only NYC, but I’m guessing it’s substantially similar in other HCOL areas.

These numbers include all flyover countries and people without education. College educated people date their likes and especially wealthy people. 120k is very little in big cities that’s a recent college grad salary

With all of your intellectual prowess wouldn’t you have realized by now that rural /= ignorant? Henry David Thoreau had every opportunity to be a socialite but chose to be a “rural dude”.
This response demonstrates why I date PhDs. Because there will be something for me to look up to.
