Somebody showed on DCUM earlier that on boys side ECNL and MLS1 not including actual MLS academies has similar numbers playing in college and similar numbers of top teams. No reason to chase an MLS badge.

100%. Very significant number of ECNL boys players play in college - 30% of D1 and 50% of D3. AD (former EDP and NAL) can’t pull those numbers despite the badge - that’s because they are second teams of former EDP NAL and eCRL players- it will take 5-7 years for AD to make inroads - and the presence of HG AND academy isnt helping as they are essentially tier 3. There is a significant delta between AD and ECNL 1st teams. Especially in this area.

Maybe boys will choose AD over being on a second team that never gets a real shot at being moved up? Or AD over a club that tops out at RL? And of course the clubs with HG have strong AD teams there just aren’t as many of them.

But AD is "second team" the same way "RL" is "second team"....

We are on a 2nd team like this now at U12. As others have said, its extremely difficult to move up. We don't even get to see the 1st team practice. They get more practices, better coaching and more fitness. Their practices are more intense. We have been w our club for 3 years and they have only moved 1 kid up in 3 years, all the while they have taken 6 outside of club players onto the 1st team.

We tried out at 3 other clubs and received 3x 1st team offers. All these clubs are only interested in maintaining a 2nd team roster and never letting players off it.

-I thought people were crazy for saying it, but we have seen it 1st hand this year.

I'm curious about the more practices as we haven't seen this yet at same age. So teams 2-5 get 3 practices a week, but team 1 gets 4?
