Anna didn’t leave Josh and he has federal charges. These women have minimal job skills and I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t have anything in their name. Not only this but they have to deal with the social pressure from their communities and families about divorce. They aren’t going anywhere.
Just a couple weeks ago I read that Anna Duggar had re-emerged on TikTok hawking her golden doodle breeding business. The number of people wishing her well was shocking. This is a woman who supported her husband through a CSAM trial. What kind of mother hears that her husband was watching little girls as young as two years old be raped and is like "Meh"? I don't care that she's got a learning disability and barely has her GED. You're an effing MOTHER. OF YOUNG GIRLS.
As far as I'm concerned, Anna, Michelle, Jim Bob, and all the siblings who enable this abuse or turn a blind eye to it can rot in hell with Josh and Joseph.
Time will tell what Kendra does. I hope she makes the right choice for her sake and that of her children.
Just to make it clear, I have severe learning disabilities, had to go to summer school for two summers to barely graduate from high school, and rape and sexual abuse of children is completely abhorrent to me. It’s not rocket science. You don’t need to be smart or a mother to know that.
I wasn’t saying you did. I was saying that the “Awww Anna’s dumb and doesn’t have a college degree” is an excuse.
And, I didn’t say you need to be a mother to know that. I am simply saying I would expect a mother of young girls, regardless of her intelligence or degrees (or lack thereof) to put her kids’ safety first.

Came here to comment on this as well. The sane-washing of the extreme outlier practice of the Quiverful/Gothard world was really quite bizarre in retrospect. They were promoted, made famous and there was no critique of their lifestyle. They made piblic appearances as these fun, maybe kooky just-folks. The parents have that super-nice, gentle demeanor which translates as harmless and decent if that's all you see. They were depicted as being perfect, really. Even though I remember that lots of people knew about the cult and commenters on social media talked criticlly about the family, the network depicted as essentially benign; maybe a bit eccentric but "normal," when actually their beliefs are or were on the fringes. The truth is that it's very hard to live in any extreme religious community and there are a million examples throughout the years to prove it.

And just no experience navigating the outside world outside of their homes so it must be very daunting to think of leaving and of course they start having kids really long young so good luck leaving with a bunch of kids on top of no skills.
Plenty of people get paid to do home life and parenting skills. They wouldn't have to do more than this to make money.

I don’t think the lack of education and job skills are even the biggest obstacles these women face when it comes to the idea of forging a new life without their husbands. It’s the lifetime of indoctrination that they are tied to their husbands forever, that marriage is an unbreakable bond, that their fathers and then husbands are the spiritual leaders of their home, and that, as wives, they must be supplicant. It’s the threat that they will no longer have good standing in the only communities they have ever known if they don’t “keep sweet and obey.”

One of the Duggar wives (Abbie) is a certified LPN who may or not have been working in the last few years. The eldest daughter, Jana was attending nursing school in recent years but I don’t know if she ever completed it. Progress!

When they came out on TLC decades ago, it was truly a phenomenon that someone was having that many kids and I think people were just really fascinated by the lifestyle. Now I feel like there’s so many more through social media that you can see that it gets really diluted. And then there is of course ballerina farm who while I don’t like her at least she doesn’t seem to be fundamentalist Christian and she’s just trying to sell us overpriced crap versus pushing a fundie agenda.
There’s also been such a backlash with all kinds of series and documentaries about this family and under fundamentalist Christians, best selling books about reformed trad wives and reformed fundamentalists, and many have achieved influencer status in their own right.
The older girls have adapted. They have monetized YouTube channels and do podcasts. A few of them have book deals. They’re still hustling their lifestyle in the way they were raised to do.

There’s no IQ test or some made up threshold to know this is abhorrent. The fact that she has kids is meaningless. She’s breeding them to turn out just like her husband and herself. That’s the literal goal here. In this day and age, there’s no excuse to stay. Staying is a nod of approval.
