+1

The quality of students is improving.

Yeah, no, I don’t think that’s it. Cheating is rampant and the notion of honor is all but dead. Faculty morale is in the gutter and they just don’t give af anymore.
+1 also, the parents helicopter in and complain to the dean and higher ups until grades are given, not earned. No respect anymore for teachers or professors. College has become a commodity that demands ultimate customer service or the customer complains like a Karen and will even lawyer up.

I have a kid there and do not disagree , but I will say this year it seems like there are more notebook exams and fewer online exams. Could be that my kid has moved out of the weeder classes, not that things have changed. I’m appalled by my kid’s stories about kids cheating. My other kid is a grad TA an another excellent school and tells me the profs do not have the energy to chase the AI users and cheaters. My kid is a bit disillusioned by that.

So are all exams by pen again?

100%.

Students are woefully unprepared and faculty can do very little about the fact that students can’t read, do math, or even sit through a film.

You can thank big tech that we have come to love so much and worship. I'm glad Europe is doing something about their youth. The US good luck, don't you dare regulate big tech. How dare restrict social media for kids, you damn socialist! Go to Moscawo.

This a thousand times.

Huh? Am I reading this correctly, only UVA admits smart kids and the rest admit inflated gpa kids

Please do not feed the trolls.

It wasn't really trolling. It was poking fun at people who can't admit the obvious - that UVA just like pretty much every other college in the country has significant grade inflation.

Are kids getting smarter everywhere in high school and college and therefore getting higher grades everywhere?

Can’t you just feel all the smartness all around? It’s a new age of widespread intelligence.

Thanks to AI.
