People in the west often live in wild fire risk areas. Go bags near the door and not letting your pets roam all over the neighborhood or your property is important.

OK. If you live in the DC area, where wild fire risks are minimal, do not go looking through your house for your "go bag" should you be awakened to a random house fire in your home. If you are evacuated, please take time to collect said "go bag."

Biggest “preps” you should worry about are financial and financial physical health. Become as financially independent and wealthy as possible. Become fit and healthy if you aren’t already. Societal collapse isn’t going to happen and if it does you’re better off becoming a refugee to another part of the world than staying put and fighting over scraps. Your best survival plan in a major catastrophe is to flee and simply having a “go bag” won’t help if you have nowhere to go. To have somewhere to go requires financial resources. Gun won’t be useful if you have to flee the country since you can’t bring a firearm abroad.

Reality is you should figure out ways to get from point a to point b when there is a gas shortage. Getting kids to where they need to go, getting food etc, —figure that out now.
