Having worked at a firm representing victims… I would never send my kid to: Catholic Church; Boy Scouts; any school or after care program; doctors office; gymnastics club; summer camp etc etc. But I like the thought behind your reasoning. Unfortunately it happens everywhere.

Because no level of academics or facilities can justify shipping your kid off at 14 or 15. You will never get that time back. Daily dinners, late nighttime chats, being there when they are happy and more importantly when they are stressed. Rethink it.

They could offer my 14 year olds a direct admit to Stanford or Princeton and I wouldn't take it. You don't get those years back and I cherish the time with my kids. I'm not a helicopter mom when they're around but I like seeing the daily.
