Heard it too. Word gets around. But apparently not to everyone.

Yes this happened to us, then they waitlisted us AGAIN. 2 years in a row. Makes me wonder why they bother playing 'nice'

Wait, can I ask what schools you’re talking about? Because this doesn’t really line up with how the admissions process works at places like Maret, Landon, or BVR.

Maret will reject some but waitlist most. Potomac and GDS are the worst offenders who waitlist nearly every non-accepted student.

i would assume that most privates will have a downtick in admissions as the birthrate trended down after 2007 and the number of people that have $60K available for school is finite. You are going to lose the ~20% or whatnot that is the working professional demographic as they're increasingly priced out.

But they are the right student for the class if 100 other families say no!

Damn what kind of clinging-to-driftwood safety school if my safety school falls through school waitlisted you????

Waitlists shrink very quickly as people get excited about a school that did admit them and they put down a hefty deposit at that school. Schools know this so it is to their benefit to have a large waitpool. Also, straight up denying a perfectly qualified kid who just didn’t make the first cut doesn’t feel right.
