WHY WON'T YOU TELL US HOW OLD THIS BOY IS?

Not sure how old your son is, but when my DD was young our ped thought she had something called “cyclic vomiting syndrome”. This lasted from ages 2-3ish until she was around 7 maybe? Episodes occurred every 1-3 months and were very short lived (usually vomiting 1-2 times , then it would pass within 6-8 hours with no food/drink). Always happened at night and then she was fine in the morning. No one else in the household, including her twin, would be ill.

The ped did not pursue it further because there was no real need to do so, given the relative infrequency. Also it was very difficult to really diagnose whether it was this syndrome, or a gastrointestinal bug. She seemed to grow out of it. Ped said something about it being associated with being prone to migraines in the future. I never researched further but you may want to look into it? We did try to write down foods etc in a diary but never found any real correlations with anything that could’ve been triggering it. If memory serves, I always suspected it had something to do with what she did or did not eat before bed, and the timing of bedtime. But it was a long time ago!

DD is currently 17 and very very healthy. The whole thing was quite odd.

Until my daughter came along, I had no idea motion sickness could lead to vomiting after you were done traveling! Would be surprising if he hasn’t had it before tho.

Likely a food allergy that no one has thought of yet.

Yes, suspend visits. Next time go with and see what the whole day is about.

Something definitely going on and the only way to figure it out is to go with several times.

Could she be giving him "medicine" that she doesn't give him when you're there? For example, something herbal, homeopathic, TCM, etc that he might be allergic to?

I mean, this is how we figured our kid was lactose intolerant. She would puke when visiting my aunt and uncle. My aunt LOVES ice cream and would give her a lot. It wasn’t anything nefarious. That said, it is totally weird you haven’t been able to figure this out. Are you sure your mom isn’t giving him some sort of treat and telling him not to tell you? How old is this kid?
