I like GDS out of those. Will be interesting to see what GDS selects.
OP of that post - DC says GDS is first choice but shadow day is next week so we will see!

Presumably getting permission to not participate in required sports. Many schools have a requirement that a kid participates in sports (competitive or rec) after school for a few terms a year.

Depends on school, for GDS, yes. For SFS or Potomac, they have real rejection.

We inquired for a waiver to do ballet in lieu of a school based sports. DD is confident and isn’t bothered by being WL; however, I am a bit rattled as a parent of what I may have done incorrectly in my efforts to advocate for her. I assume a waitlist decision is a soft no.

Waiver to not do school-based sports in lieu of ballet? Or waiver to miss class for ballet?
Big3 parents here.
The former is not a big deal and not unusual.
The later is never granted--these types of kids have to do public or generally online school.

Why would an elite ballerina be relevant to the application? Schools may see that as lots of missed classes in the future.

I think it was. From our Catholic K-8, historically only kids with extreme disciplinary issues would get rejected from any of the diocesan schools. This year at least two girls who are good students with no disciplinary issues were rejected by BI. They’re not Catholic, but that was never an issue in the past.
All the diocesan high schools reject applicants, there simply isn’t enough room for every applicant.
Did they apply to another diocesan high school like DJO or JPG? Our K-8 suggests applying to two high schools as nothing is a given.
