Maret doesn’t allow phones in K-8, and starting this year, doesn’t allow it in upper grades either. If teachers or admin see a phone out, they will take it away (this happens with my kid so I know they are doing this.) I think a lot of these examples in this thread are old (before this year). I’m an US parent and am so happy they instituted this policy this year.

DC’s Catholic high school is a healthy mix. There are textbooks, and homework except for essays are done on paper and then submitted online by taking a photo or scan. English classes read and annotate full paperback novels. DC has a notebook for every class and notes are handwritten. At the same time, teachers use Canvas to post homework, syllabi, slides from class or links to videos.

We are pleased with the balance.
