They’ve delayed in the past because of cold.

What is your childcare plan and why isn’t it in place? Oh I see. FCPS is your childcare.
i don’t have a childcare plan for 2 weeks. i have no family close by. my husband leaves extremely early for work. we aren’t part of SACC. what do you expect me to do? i work part time. from 9:30-3:30 while my kids are in school. on days where they are scheduled off i take off. but days where they don’t go in until 11:20 i can’t show up at work at 12. it doesn’t work. and fcps wasn’t even telling families until 4pm daily earlier in the week. i am sure a lot of families are struggling with the late starts. maybe not middle school who goes early or high school who can get themselves to school. but for elementary it’s hard. not to mention kids are behind in learning, teachers say there isn’t time to get it all done, kids are missing weeks of specials. it’s winter. we live in an area where we get snow. it’s been 2 weeks since we had snow. it’s time to go back to a normal schedule

Check the weather for Monday. There is no place in Fairfax County with a low temperature in the single digits, even at 3 in the morning.

But wind chills will be in the mid to low single digits while kids are at bus stops. Delay is highly likely. We don’t live in the north where people are hardier in general.
