Ideally, yes. Gerald Ford once vetoed a bill to name a federal building in Michigan after himself. The bill came up again and was signed into law by Carter.

That was the thought process when National Airport was renamed Reagan Airport. Young people only know it as Reagan Airport. The older folks who know better continue to call it DCA or National. I'm afraid that once Trump's name is slathered across everything, it will remain. And so does Trump. Sigh.
