Yes. Of course, we should prioritise sports over academics. That’s the American way. And your excuse is a red herring since myriad other states start sports later than MCPS and somehow manage just fine. Because they have more sensible HS start times
At my HS we have some sports ending practice at 9:30 PM in order for everyone to get field time. If you want student athletes at practice until 10:30-11 thats on you
Why can't they practice in the morning? Kids who don't do sports would still be able to get a developmentally appropriate amount of sleep.
I love AM workouts. My football players come in at quarter of 6 every morning almost all year. The only thing that concerns me with that being done on a school wide basis across multiple sports, is there are very limited shower spaces, some schools may not even have working showers. I don't mind a stinky kid but I'm sure a lot of other students would be upset sharing their classrooms with a ton of kids who ran sprints and lifted heavy for 90 minutes without a shower.
