Uh - there is a middle ground? You probably don’t have the experience or capability to be in ops situation - unless big tech was banging your door down and you said no thank you I am doing nothing instead

I quit big tech years ago. I didn't have what it took to fix critical issues at lightening speed. And every single day was an emergency fix that needed to be addressed.

Some industries are not for everyone. I was very surprised when I saw so many people joining big tech post COVID and making massive salaries. I never made any of that big money in the early 2010s. And I was working with mission critical projects.

Isn't that what every high paying tech job is like?

Can confirm. For $1M+ a year (comp + bonus + RSUs), I'll take my punches and live to see another day.

Be careful. You might not.

Ask your boss for some 101 time and without blaming or complaining, ask for his guidance on how to improve your situation.

Yeah but not in a “how can I improve my performance in order to please you” kind of way. Take the position of “we’re on the same team with the same goals. I’m open to collaborating in a way that is respectful and in line with xyz company code of conduct that states xyz. Here are some ideas I have about how we can navigate the waters together when things get rocky…”

DP than the one you were responding to.

Meh. I don't need AI to write an expanded version. Some of us know what it feels like to get yelled at every day at work. No need for expanded jargon.

But American Psycho was intended as satire, not documentary. It is real now. Or more real.

+1
Sigh. So much small dick energy in the workplace.

It's not lost on me that several of the worst tech executives I've known have been short men. Just sayin.

Are you 3 years old?

Your boss yelling at you every day in public and private would be just fine with you and rattle you in no way?

Let's just say i don't believe "yelling at me every day" is true. This is worded like a child wrote this.

If this is the whining of a 3 year old to you then i feel very sorry for your colleagues.

I'm sorry OP. Are his bosses on any of these channels? Can they see that he's a tearer down and not a builder up (and certainly not a team player) and a quite bad boss using ineffective techniques. Or do they look at results. Results cannot be great in this env.
