ACC may be second tier but it’s still plenty fun!

For most kids who are into school spirit and watching sports, the key is whether a big (big enough) cohort of kids at the school share their interest in football/basketball/hockey/soccer/lacrosse etc. and actually show up to games.

Plenty of ACC schools (possibly all??) fit that profile, including many that are far from national champion contenders. Thinking of Pitt, in particular here ….

OP said no southern schools, so that excludes Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, UNC, USC, Clemson and Georgia.

YES!!!

My friend’s DD is from NYC, progressive, and only applied to schools with big sports and school spirit and a strong business program.

She absolutely loves Indiana/ Kelly! Had a good rush experience earlier this month and got a bid to her first choice sorority. (No clue how selective/desireable the house is - I just know that she’s thrilled, which is what matters most.)

Finally, it sounds like her friends so far are from all over the country. All around great experience!

Wisconsin is very, very progressive. As is Michigan.

Also, Northwestern has a decent enough sports culture and Greek Life. My friends and I went to all home football and many home basketball games and lots of Frat parties.

How is USC a tough admit while Cornell is possible? This doesn't make sense.

Someone has an inflated view of Cornell.

Woke, sports, and business is a pretty unusual combo. The big rah rah Midwest schools aren't particularly "woke." If the student is looking for a Columbia or Oberlin vibe, they are not going to find it in Ann Arbor or Bloomington. I think it's better to look further west like Oregon or Washington. Those are big school where they are more likely to find some students with similar sensibilities. And of course they have sports and business majors in Eugene and Seattle.

Depends on your HS. USC is very tough admit from our high school - like basically impossible - unless you have a drama portfolio. Cornell will take kids into the high 3.8s from our HS is test scores are good
