I do think a major factor on Bridgerton is that they REALLY invest in the part of the love story where the couple really, really wants each other but are not actually even allowed to touch. That's where it being a period show comes into play. In a contemporary romance, the idea that someone would be overcome with pleasure at merely being touched by someone is silly. But in Regency London among the gentry, where marriage was tightly controlled and there were a lot of rules about when men and women were allowed to even be alone in the same room together much less touching one another, I actually do buy that people were, like, ecstatic after 5 seconds of foreplay. A huge part of the sexiness of Bridgerton is premised on these people being all hot and heavy for each other but having to make do with, like, a single passionate kiss and then weeks of furtive glances over teacups.

Some of these women absolutely would be brought close to, uh, their pinnacle, within five second. I believe it.

No, it isn’t in the books at all. But lots of things in the show aren’t in the books (eg, Anthony was never actually engaged to Kate’s sister, and Colin wasn’t mad that Penelope was Whistledown (nor was Eloise)). They really ramp up the drama in the show compared to the books.

I totally agree with this. It feels shoehorned in. Especially because the story with Sophie is actually very chaste and traditional. Which I'm actually enjoying! But it would make more sense if his love story was with someone more scandalous, an actress or divorcee or someone with similar interests.

I like it! It’s spicy and it fits because he’s an artist.

He's a little bit of a stereotype of the chaos bisexuality. But last season they had the straight character having threesomes as well.

I like Antony and Kate but agree about the chemistry between Benedict and Sophie. Best so far, imo.

I personally really enjoyed Bailey's somewhat deranged performance in Season 2. I thought it fit the ridiculousness of the show (which to be clear is part of the appeal for me).

I just think intensity is his thing. I like it.

Yes. I just finished watching Season 3. There was a letter (presumably fake) that sets it up for the first male heir born to one of the sisters inherits the title.

I liked the first four episodes. Fairly good chemistry between Benedict and Sophie. But the real standout for me is Lady Penwood. I only know Katie Leung as Cho Chang from Harry Potter. She grew up into such a great actress!
