That’s stupid. A 38 year old woman can date a man in his 30s.

Is this the right age range for me? The 48 year old feels too old, tbh.
48 isn’t too old for you at all. In fact, you might consider resetting your filter up to age 55. Tons of fit guys in their 50s in the dc area, and they tend to have a lot more $$ too.
That is ridiculous. She is late 30s! I think 48 is too old for her. I am 48! I don't date my age or older. (I could care less about how much a man has. I support myself. His $ is irrelevant.)
I’m 48 - after I separated from DH, my first casual boyfriend was 36 and very athletic and handsome.
A few months down the road, I decided that I’m ready for a committed long-term relationship and matched with a few men in their 40s and 50s. I started dating a 55 y.o. wealthy man, but his body was so bad in comparison with my 36 y.o. casual boyfriend that I just couldn’t imagine being stuck with him as my only romantic partner for years, and I broke up with him, despite all the fancy dates that he’d financed.
After I broke up with him, I went out with a 45 y.o. athletic man, and we hit it off and are in a committed relationship now. He said that he didn’t want to date women in their 30s because they are immature.
I had a similar experience when I tried to date a 59 yo man when I was 44. He took me on a few fancy dates and then a day with night at a nice hotel . I had a biological shock when I saw him undressed. Sex didn’t happen (we just took a nap), and we broke up shortly after

They also tend to have a lot more kids to pay CS and ex-spouses to pay alimony .
I know a few divorced women. No one gets CS or alimony. We have our own money. Many people are dual career households...in those cases (like mine) CS or alimony is rare. This area is not like other parts of the country. Still, fifties is too old for OP. Also, some 50s men would NOT date 30s women (like my exH). He does not want more kids and will not fund anyone. Younger women only would want $. A lot of men think like this.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:If a man wants kids or even might want kids, he'd be foolish to date a 38 year old. Op, you ought to separate-out the two issues. Know IF you want kids -- and if you do, make it happen solo. That's the priority here. Second issue (separate) is letting a good partner/marriage relationship happen, if it happens
Unless you already have kids?
That’s not entirely true. I met several men when dating in my 40s who were looking for a life partner in the first place. Being a dad was secondary. Men are not as “paternal” as women. Compatibility matters the most for them in all areas. And the men shared they wouldn’t oppose medical technologies or adoption if their partner is too old to have kids naturally
What they did share was negative experience with women in late 30s who rushed them to marry and have kids
This. People WAY overestimate how much men want kids. Most are fine with no kids, step kids, adopted kids, IVF, surrogates, whatever.
