Also, as of Monday afternoon models are feeling out a possible ~10 inches of snow for Saturday and Sunday.

Meteorologists were warning that uncovered skin could develop frostbite in as little as 5-10 minutes. MCPS opened on time. Things have changed in the last 12 years, but I’d still be surprised if we had a delay due to these temps with no precipitation.
It turns out you can wear jackets, hats, and gloves and still be outside in 0F temperatures. How do you think kids in Minnesota survive?
To be fair some people around here aren’t used to those kind of temperatures or may not have appropriate clothing.

Buy winter jackets. You can probably get them at a thrift shop for $10-20.
Have you been to a thrift store recently? Anything warm enough for 9 deg will either be UN-gently used or $40. Influencers have ruined them for low income people.
A few months ago I got a brand new lands end puffer for myself at goodwill (normally $240) for $14.99. Kids coats are less than that.

Anonymous wrote:Mcps should definitely delay if its going to be 5 with the wind chill.

Last year we had like 3 2 hour delays in a row because of cold temps.
