The word is "maid", not "bachelorette"

I like people wringing their hands over women who choose to be single and childless as some sort of unusual modern trend destroying society, because, uh... have you heard of nuns before?

I had two great aunts who were nuns. So by definition single childless women. Nowadays women aren't becoming nuns as much but there's absolutely nothing new about women who choose to not marry and not have children.

When you are 90 years old what gives you comfort?

For some, it's grandkids

For others, it's the people they mentored

For others, it's a business they built or a book they wrote or a science they scienced.

For others, it's a pile of Prada bags

I’ll probably be one. Became a single mom when my kid was 18 months (not married) and trying to date while raising my kid opened my eyes a lot. Most men expect me to be a doormat and lower my standards and are shocked when they can’t boss me around. I’m highly educated and own my condo. Men don’t like this. Now that my kid is about to ship off for college I don’t see anything changing.

My aunt never married, never wanted to. She was an adored special ed teacher, when she died we recieved boxes of letters from her students and former students and the church was packed. She lived a very full and very meaningful life.

NP. The distinction is having kids. Kids change your life, they shape your life into something decidedly different than bachelorette lifestyle. It's not the same.
