I think OP is a hater and his DS / DD didn't make the team.

Pray tell, where are the players getting training and game time if not at a club?

Or did you mean your coach doesn't like players from a specific club? Please to tell us which club you think he doesn't like?

Honestly I think its sketchy for this not to be advertised or shared with the students. VHSL rules do not let coaches gatekeep green days, they are supposed to be open to any interested student.

If you are talking about boys and the coach is the same as last year, he’s a really good guy. Know him from outside of soccer and am impressed with what he was able to do with the team last year and just overall how he conducts himself.

Yes, HHS runs a great HS soccer program. I appreciate how they seemed to want to develop freshman over putting a ton of juniors on JV like some of the neighboring schools my son's JV team played.

I find it hard to believe any HS coach hates club players. That's 95% of the kids who make the HS teams.

Unless some of the kids the coach has on his travel team are slow. Then he's got to use some other metric.

At Marshall, this info is publicly available.

A 9th grader wouldn't necessarily know to ask about secret off season workouts. Most will probably show up the first day of tryouts, completely unaware that kids they are competing with for limited spots have been secretly practicing with the coach for months.

Sure, it should be but if you're saying it's not posted, I'd email the coach and ask. Better than showing up at tryouts and finding out about it! It's not necessarily a secret, just not well advertised or promoted.

Each HS is different and the green days are run by the coach.

From experience, the sport will hold an interest meeting. Then they will send out communications about green days and lifting. If you want more info, contact the coach. It's really not that hard.

girls teams will be varsity - high level travel players, jv - rec and low level travel - grade won't matter as much as girls are mostly fully grown at 14 so age is less of an issue. many rec and low level travel girls won't ever make varsity especailly at the better high schools (oakton, yorktown, indy, dominion, champe, etc)

yep, that's the exception though.
he probably also knows the coach somehow. Politics plays into that a lot.
