What does that have to do with it? Jews don’t celebrate Christmas. There is no tree, decorations or presents in our home.

This. It’s a throwaway cutesy video. I’m sure there are a lot of things to complain about in the district. This shouldn’t even be in the top fifty. It’s a giant nothing-burger.

I'm just going to present it without comment and let y'all say what you think about this video.

I knew I could count on you ridiculous Moco twats to melt down over this.

Do you comprehend how people roll their eyes at you?

As a reminder: You’re just parents. You are not an important stakeholder. Stay in your lane. Complaining about fun stuff like this just makes you look even more looney toons.

Could it have been a bit more broad in its embrace of winter holidays rather than a specific one? Yes. Some of us don't celebrate Christmas, so . . .

How much for production with a dozen administrators @ $100 an hour each?

You think they got overtime for the video? lol.

The issue is not that they got overtime. It’s that they spent valuable working hours doing this instead of something more productive. So when you calculate the cost of this video, you have to factor in the time of people who are participating in this production, because they otherwise would have spent that time doing other work.

That's not the same thing as cost. If they had to work overtime to make up for the video, that would be a cost. But they didn't. If you could identify something they didn't do because of the video, that would be something else. But you can't even do that.

It would be like calculating the "cost" of taking a dump at work. That's absurd.

Look at their nice offices while Sherwood is dealing with a true dump.

Hours? Oh god no. Maybe a few minutes. It probably was a smartphone with an external microphone and the files uploaded to wevideo, imovie, or something similar. (Maybe, worst-case, a MCPS camcorder.) It really wasn't all that time-consuming, I suspect.

In this case I only saw one board member and one superintendent, who are likely to have donated at most five minutes. Maybe fifteen minutes of post-production? But anyone could have done it. I have even taught fifth-grade students how to pull it off.

I have to wonder, though: with every tom, dick, and harry possessing a pro-consumer camcorder, essentially, in their pocket, people still think it's somehow difficult or time-consuming to do any of this?

I chalk all this up to public relations, in any case, and for something less than two minutes which makes people smile then the roi on it is actually pretty good. I'd rather have a dozen of these than some misguided million-dollar advertising campaign any day of the year.
