Look at it from a top of the heap perspective.

Top 20 in US out 4,000 universities is top 0.50%

Top 113 in world out of 25,000 universities is top 0.45%.

So yes, possible to humble brag with that ranking on a relative scale.

One kid to UVA. One to one of the two outstanding Aussie universities (this is a list of universities, not colleges, btw) on the list.

The UVA student had a superior life experience, by far. Both had solid training in their area of expertise. No gen eds in Oz, so 3 years and lower cost. But the research out of the Australian schools was greater as it is a much larger institution.

Top 30? Top 300? A difference without a distinction if your kid makes the most of it. What do they want? Not sure? FFS, take a gap year and get on with it.

Third child on a likely athletic recruiting path to the schools DCUM fawns over. Might opt out. Saw older siblings access great educations and subsequently exciting careers. He is too young to decide, but old enough to know this board is bananas.
