A few pro-Israel and antisemitism-focused social media accounts posted that he was Jewish and "vocally pro-Israel." These are accounts that have a significant following among American Jews and a few people I personally know reposted the content in their IG stories.

These accounts tend to post slanted information and really try to push emotional buttons of Jewish social media users.


As I tell my children, if something you read on line causes an immediate, strong, emotional reaction, take a step back, breathe, and be suspicious of the source. Don't react and especially don't repost until you dig deeper and find out the facts from multiple reputable sources. Don't be an angry lamb.


This is very wise advice. Too many times I have gone to respond to something only to find out the comment has already been removed by a moderator. Saving me from myself, no doubt. Rage-bait is real.

He was in his apartment inside an apartment building so mugging seems unlikely. My daughter lives in the apartment building just next door. It’s generally a safe area.

It was also ~15 degrees Monday night. I don’t see many muggers hanging around in that weather.

It was in the foyer of the building not in his apartment.
Robber, mugger, intentional homicide, random crazy, aggrieved student or colleague...DH had a college classmate who was a lawyer shot and killed standing in front of his house in a Bay Area suburb, never solved.

Federal law enforcement is in every area of law enforcement often sharing assets with the locals.
