First time heard NPS being liberal. As is well known in DC, NW is NOT as liberal as some of the other schools.
Noone said NPS was liberal. Our family is. Two different things.
Ours too!
NPS is much less conservative than it used to be, imo. It tends to be very neutral in most areas, for better or for worse. I have found most families to be warm and welcoming. You’ll find pockets of less down to earth folks, but hey—it’s a private school in DC
NPS is swinging toward woke. Now they include a land acknowledgement in their all school assemblies -- a wasted minute, at best, since they study the settlement of north America in their social studies classes. And the head of school has begun to sign his messages with "he/him". Just when woke is becoming passé.
When we first visited the school several years ago we heard a classroom of first graders singing "It's A Grand Old Flag".
Oh no, you read pronouns!! Don’t worry, you can still sing patriotic songs around the piano at home in your silk flag pajamas.

This is laughable. They don’t know how to implement that philosophy. Many teachers focus on punishment v. discipline and seem to have forgotten that boys learn differently from girls. Any elementary school that takes away recess from kids for alleged “behavior” issues doesn’t understand child development. Our brief time there was not joyous and sucked the life out of our child.

Anonymous wrote:If you’re eyeing St. Patrick’s or NPS, newsflash: you’re not a liberal or a progressive. You’re wealthy, and you're leveraging your privilege for the benefit of your offsping. That you parrot lofty concerns about social justice, the marginalized, or the downtrodden doesn’t make you a better person - it just makes you a well-meaning member of the bourgeoisie, which, spoiler alert, is the problem.

Anonymous wrote:Because you lean conservative let me share this: We asked St. Pat’s whether they were teaching anything about gender theory before we enrolled. The administration said no, although they mentioned students might hear about it from other children. We felt that was fair and decided to enroll our child.
However, we later noticed that many of the teachers seemed very liberal, and we found books like Julian Is a Mermaid in the classroom, along with others I don’t recall. Because of this, we decided to withdraw our child from the school and went to a Catholic school.
