DS (13) is okay with stripes or plain colours. Have I missed pajama season or something? I can’t find them anywhere in age 13. I have seen shops that have some suitable but only up to age 12. Do boys stop wearing pyjamas when they enter their teens?

My guess is there isn’t much of a market for it because it’s a cultural assumption that the majority of the male population sleeps naked or in just underwear by that age. Is your son actually asking you for pajamas? If you’re just assuming, it might be good to ask him if he still even wears them before you go to any more trouble.

My son has never worn pajamas. He used to wear boxers or sweatpants, then nude since age twelve or so. I don't think that it would even occur to him to want real pajamas.

Why don't you just talk to your son? It can be a brief conversation that goes something like this:

“I need to go shopping for some clothes, and I have noticed that you have outgrown your pajamas again. Do you still wear them? I’m happy to keep buying them for you if you want, but it’s also perfectly fine for a young man your age to sleep in underwear or in the nude. No pressure either way. Just let me know".

Yes it really isn't a big deal.

Yes I agree. That's how I found out that my DS (14) had stopped wearing anything to bed and that I had been buying pajamas for him for no reason.

No waste of time and money.

Yes I have wondered about that too. It's strange because it's no problem finding pajamas for teen girls. I don't understand this.

+ It seems like there is a much bigger selection of sleepwear for girls than for boys especially when it comes to teens.

Anonymous wrote:17 yo son wears plaid pj pants around the house. He doesn’t care where they come from. I buy target, Amazon, old navy, Hollister or anywhere there is a sale.

He doesn’t sleep in pjs and hasn’t since elementary school. He sleeps in boxers and is only wearing the pj pants because it’s colder now. He’s out of the phase where he wears them in public. That was middle and early HS.

Yes then it really doesn't matter what they look like as long as they are comfortable, no one besides the family is going to see them anyways.

Yes and perhaps more than just an assumption otherwise there would be a bigger market for them. Anyways just ask your son. No reason to keep buying them if he doesn't want to wear them which is okay.

hollister is expensive! I look for sale ones at TJ Maxx or Marshalls; men's small.

DS definitely wanted ones that look like Pajamas to fit in for PJ days at school.

Mine wear a T-shirt and flannel pants. One rarely even wears a shirt once he's in bed. Most of the pants come from Kohl's, Old Navy, Target or Amazon. One of the favorite pairs is one I bought from Five Below (they are really soft).
