Just to keep the family peace I would invite the boyfriend.
Then leave it up to them whether or not he attends.

If its mother of the bride wouldn’t her daughter be having a candid conversation with her mom about if she wants to bring BF? In brides shoes I’d ask mom what she wants to do and, if she wants him to come then fine. This is a conversation between the bride and her mom and it should have nothing to do with OP

Just have a consistent rule. Only serious SOs or engaged SO.
And I, I wouldn’t want to see his face. Everyone knows how it’s going to end, whether yesterday, next year or in a 15 year self implosion.
