+1. DH is actually quite a good gift giver, better than me, but if I run across something i might buy it and give to him to wrap rather than making him go make an extra errand or online purchase.

He is not good at stockings but I am so I usually take charge of his and our kids’ stockings but will give him little things for mine otherwise I end up with random junk.

Yes, we come from families that have gifts under the tree for everyone.

My spouse lets our little kids buy total garbage for me on Amazon and I get that as a gift. Goes right in the trash. Whatever the 6 yo thought looked cool that morning.

Ugh. Agree w you .. Not thoughtful. While my husband has never done this with our kids.
Now that they are adults. We all agreed on no more junky stuff -- cups, picture frames, socks, hats, gloves, hand lotions, body wash etc etc. Things that we don't need want or would use... and no more cards.

Thoughtful gifts with a purpose.

We both buy our own gifts bc our gifts are clothing and neither of us want the other to pick out clothing for us. If we did that we’d both just be exchanging/returning items after the holidays. We’d both rather Just get exactly what we want the first time. We do fill each others stockings w little surprise gifts and that is fun.

This is the first year I bought my own gift and I have been this excited in years. Gifts are neither of our love languages but he comes from a family that routinely gives gifts and makes a show of appreciation.

Glad to hear there are so many like us that do not exchange gifts with spouse. Gifts are not our love langauge either. I get myself what I want when I want it and my DH does the same, though he is much more thrifty than I am. We still do bday gift exchanges but the Holidays are just for the kids.

We share finances but I still use Christmas to get things i wouldn't buy for myself. I buy myself the $4 ebooks but I put the $12 ebooks on my wishlist and it feels special when I get them.
