You simply donate to a thrift store or regift. How can you be annoyed at someone who is clearly making the gesture out of being a good host? It's fine if it's your mother in law who does it and you know she knows exactly what your hand size is, but IMO you do not get to be annoyed at gifts from people you barely know who are simply making a well intended gesture.

Exactly. I would be thrilled that someone was thoughtful enough to give me anything at all, much less a nice pair of gloves! Honestly, some of these people are either trolls or just extremely rude.

But after some consideration, I might just get her a nice ornament instead, along with the stocking ideas.

Don't get an ornament for a young college student who probably doesn't have a Christmas tree. My aunt used to give everyone a Christmas decoration or ornament every year and I don't have any of them from when I was in college. I moved around so much and didn't have anywhere to store things that weren't essential or important to me (like Christmas decorations).

I like the gloves idea. Add a Starbucks gift card, a box of chocolates, and some other stocking stuffers.

How old is she and what’s your budget? To me unless they’re upscale gloves don’t sound like a gift. A lot of places are doing monograms for free right now. A wallet with a monogram could be nice.

Gloves sound nice, or maybe you can offer a gift 🎁 for both her and your son…..?

A small journal is nice and you don't have to worry about size of items like gloves, etc.

An ornament might not be the best gift. Many young people don’t put up trees and don’t have a lot of storage space.

Gloves if you know her size. Whatever you get her, just include a gift receipt.
